Cubisim Hits Paris by KatFinn Cubisim Hits Paris by KatFinn
My second group for eveningwear. =)

We have the theme of Paris from 1910 to 1920. We had to be inspired by art, fashion, events, etc. from Paris in the time period. We had a color story of mint green, coral, cream, and black. We could also use antique gold for trim, beads, etc.

My inspiration for this group was the cubism art movement, I chose Marcel Duchamp's "Nude Descending a Stair Case" as the piece to be inspired by. The cubism movement was very shocking when it first started appearing in the saloon shows back then. No would could really understand it and the Academy still taught the traditional classical way of art. But cubism did become a noted art form during this time period. =) I chose cream and black because the color combination seemed to work with my inspiration.

Drawn in pencil and outlined in ink. Colored with Prismacolor markers and colored pencils on 14X17" Bristol board.

Designs (C) to me.

I like the bold colours and shapes combined with a sense of early 20thC elegance - it would be nice to see these made into real outfits :)

Thank you!

One day, I just might make these into reality. I liked these a bit more because of the art history reference. :)

Gooorgeous, honestly this is fabulous. The asymmetric hemlines are really cute, and the gauzy black material has the sexy but classy vibe to it.

Thanks. =) That was the theme for this collection. Mostly due to the Marcel Duchamp painting "Nude Descending a Staircase". I wanted the figures look like they were walking down a staircase and the asymmetrical hems allowed me to do that. =) Cubism was shocking when it first came into the saloons, so I added a gauze to give an illusion of a short evening dress at first. :XD:

No problem! =) I like explaining my designs and concepts to people. It's really fun for me, but gives everyone else more insight to my train of thought. =)
